Sarah was born and raised in the quaint, picturesque fishing village of North Rustico on beautiful Prince Edward Island. In 2001 she married a non-islander (one of the few brave souls to do so) and since then have pursued and received two degrees, a B.A. (Psychology) from the University of Prince Edward Island and more recently her B.Ed. (specialization in Elementary studies) from St. Thomas University in Fredericton, NB. She lives in North Vancouver, BC with her husband and two wonderful daughters, Isabelle and Olivia.
As the daughter of a lobster fisherman, the idea of 'Louie' has been a part of Sarah her entire life. However, it was only as part of her experience as an educator and parent that this 'idea' actually took hold and eventually became the character and first adventure we have here today.
So take a look around and feel free to drop me a line anytime, to ask a question or just to say 'hello'.
Louie the Lobster in 'One Claw Short' (second in the Louie the Lobster series focusing on bullying / teasing)
Jacinthe continues to enjoy her nomadic lifestyle that began thirty-five years ago. She has lived and
worked in Sri Lanka, Dominica, Viet Nam, Bangladesh, the Sudan, Indonesia and is presently living in Jinja, Uganda, on the shores of Lake Victoria.
Life in Jinja is far from quiet and slow. Jacinthe volunteers 5 days a week at Amani Baby Cottage, a local Ugandan orphanage, helping to look after the 'Baby A' group - newborns to 12 months old. In addition to her time at the orphanage, she also works with a local group specializing in life skills training for high risk women looking for a new start (most women are either recovering addicts or former prostitutes).
Jacinthe holds a MEd in Counselling and provides individual and relationship counselling through her local private practice. She is married to a civil engineer (the reason for her 35 years of nomadic living), has two sons and is the very proud grand-maman of four beautiful granddaughters.
Jacinthe co-authored (along with her two sisters, Charlotte O'Dea and Francoise Picot) a series of personal reflections on their own transformative journey into the new world of fifty and beyond. Their oft-times emotionally bare reflections touch on various hot spots in a woman's life during this time including the new landscape of marriage, changing family dynamics and the need for forgiveness.
