"We are a new, small and independent Canadian publisher specializing in original and educational children's material, primarily children's books."

A Short History

As first time authors, navigating the world of publishing and self-publishing was and continues to be interesting and challenging.

After investigating different options we decided to publish our first book 'Louie the Lobster in What is a Friend?' ourselves. We chose to ‘self-publish’ primarily for the experience, learning and understanding that would come from a complete ‘do-it-yourself’ approach. The fact that landing an established traditional publisher the first time out of the gate had low odds definitely helped with our decision.

What do we publish?

Fun, creative and educational stories for children that not only encourage a lifelong love of reading but an appreciation and desire to think and express themselves creatively.

Why do we want to continue to publish children's books?

As any parent knows, children definitely see 'the world' differently from adults. What we may dismiss as boring or assume to be easily understood may be the lightning rod for learning, development, creativity or just plain fun for a child. We believe that great ideas are all around us waiting to be tapped and shared and it is our hope that we are able to play a small part in tapping and sharing those great ideas with children all around the world.

What type of publisher are we?

We are a publishing company who:

  • Has started the company on the back of a single title - 'Louie the Lobster in What is a Friend?'
  • Has as its owners, two first time authors getting daily 'hands on' lessons in publicizing and marketing children's books.
  • Does not charge authors to publish their work.
  • Authors maintain creative control over their own work.
  • Has each new author work one on one with the owners directly.
  • Uses a small network of professionals who are responsible for:
    • Editing and proofreading
    • Layout and Design
    • Illustration services
  • Uses both offset and on demand printing technologies depending several factors including:
    • Author commitment to marketing and promoting the book
    • Degree of 'risk' associated with the book. For example, an uncommon theme or significantly different use of imagery or layout.
    • Desire for a trial run - test the market.
